Full Dentures for Replacing All Teeth
If you are missing all of your teeth because of tooth loss or because your teeth had to be extracted, we may recommend full or complete dentures. These dentures are placed after the teeth have been removed. The custom-made appliance may need to be redesigned if the gums shift and change during the healing period after tooth extractions. Full dentures are held in place with adhesives and must be removed at night.
Partial Dentures for Replacing Some Missing Teeth
If you still have one or more natural teeth that are in a healthy condition, we can fit you with a set of partial dentures that are fixed or removable around existing teeth. Removable dentures can be taken out when eating or cleaning. Fixed partial dentures are designed to restore missing teeth and can be cemented into place with a bridge. This provides a little more stability and support than removable dentures.
Implant Supported Dentures for a Secure Fit
Dr. Whitehead may also recommend implant supported dentures for even more support and a more secure fit. They provide more stability in the mouth and can improve your ability to eat and speak properly. You do not need to use any adhesives or paste with these dentures because they are attached to a set of implants.
We can discuss all of your options for dentures during your consultation.
