How the CEREC Procedure Works
If you need a filling or are getting dental implants that require a crown to cap the tooth, the CEREC procedure may be a part of your treatment plan. Your tooth may need to be prepared by removing decayed parts of the tooth and any weakened tissue. Next, Dr. Whitehead will take an optical impression of the tooth. This process only takes a couple of minutes. We will use CEREC 3D software program to create a virtual model of the tooth.
Restoration data is sent to the milling machine in our office and your all-ceramic restoration will be ready in about 20 minutes. The restoration will be placed in your mouth to ensure a proper fit and can then be polished and bonded to the tooth structure permanently. All of this is done in a single appointment so there is no waiting time for your final restoration, or a need for a temporary restoration!
